Roger S. Cohen Biography
February 14, 2023 – A twenty-year Nyack resident, Roger Cohen has been deeply involved in the civic and commercial aspects of the Village.
Roger has served as President and Director of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce since 2018, serving as Treasurer and Director prior to that. He is a member of the Nyack Zoning Board of Appeals, the Nyack Business Council, and served on the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) Committee. He served for eight years as Treasurer of Nyack First, a New York State-registered political Committee/party. He is a director of Visit Nyack, Inc. Roger is also Vice President of his condominium Association.
As part of his Nyack Chamber responsibilities, Roger manages the annual Halloween Parades and Classic Car Shows, which bring tens of thousands to Nyack’s downtown.
Roger earned a BS in Social Planning and Public Policy Development at Cornell University. He holds an Executive Business Management Certificate from New York University. Roger is a Certified Global Business Professional as designated by the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators.
Professionally, Roger is President of Cohen International, a Nyack, NY consulting firm that specializes in business development among domestic and international companies. The firm also provides government contracting services, and has expertise in the area of Small Business Innovation Research. The firm has keen interest in small startup companies.
Roger is credited with initiating the United States Postal Service project that resulted in the popular “self-sticking” postage stamps. Learning about a long-dormant proposal to put self-adhesive backing on postage stamps, Roger helped make the complex financial and technological arrangements that jump-started the project after years of delay. Millions of tongues are now being spared the aftertaste of glue, thanks to Roger’s efforts.
